Sensuality, exquisite presentation, seafood delicacies, and a bit of crazy kinkiness: some would say this is the ultimate Japanese experience.
Nyotaimori translates to “female body presentation”. The less common male version is called nantaimori. It involves a model lying naked on a table, laid with different types of sushi. Her private parts are discreetly covered with garnishes such as leaves and flowers, in a sort of crazy, edible, Japanese version of Eve. Not surprisingly, nyotaimori is highly popular at bachelor parties.
“Eating sushi from a naked woman’s body” is the most voted of the “strange sexual fetishes” in our recent readers’ poll. However, it is not a sexual fetish as such because the participants don’t have sex. It is more of an adult dining style.
A non-explicit video of nyotaimori:
Although nyotaimori is a distinctly Japanese “dish”, it is not common in Japan. In fact, some Japanese think of it as a European trend now. It is said to have originated from the yakuza, the Japanese mafia. Other reports say nyotaimori originated as a geisha service. Whatever the origin, nyotaimori certainly adheres to the Japanese art of beautiful food presentation.
Preparation
The model’s body hair must be shaven, and the model must wash in a special fragrance-free soap before they start their job as a plate. In some places, the model must also be wrapped in cling film or covered in other material before food is served on them. The model is not allowed to move. Hard job for those who are ticklish!
Why?
Apart from being something a little different to your usual steak and potatoes, the model’s body is said to warm the sushi to room temperature. There are other theories ranging from erotic humiliation and objectification of women, to mother-like nurturing.
Rules
- You must not talk to the plate
- You must not touch or grope the plate
- You must not make offensive remarks or gestures to or about the plate
- You must not pick up any food from the plate except with your chopsticks
